Cards Against Lucas

Cards Against Lucas was a collaborative project where I worked as a UI/UX Web Developer to create a real-time, multiplayer game inspired by Cards Against Humanity. Developed in partnership with Lucas Cardellini, the goal was to deliver a seamless platform that allowed players to connect and enjoy the game together in real time.

Key Contributions:

  • Frontend Development: Designed and implemented the user interface using JavaScript and CSS, focusing on creating an intuitive and visually appealing experience. The design of the site is mimics Cards Against Humanity's simplistic design, to create an authentic experience.

  • Real-Time Gameplay: Collaborated closely with Lucas to integrate real-time updates, allowing players to see card submissions, vote on answers, and interact with others seamlessly.

  • User Experience Optimization: Created a simple user interface, making it easy for players to join games, play cards, and interact with the platform effortlessly.

Challenges Overcome:

  • Real-Time Interactions: Addressed the complexities of ensuring smooth, real-time updates for multiple players simultaneously, maintaining performance and responsiveness throughout gameplay.

  • Collaboration: Combined my frontend expertise with Lucas’s backend development to deliver a cohesive, fully functional multiplayer experience.

The experience of working closely with another developer and tackling real-time interactivity challenges provided valuable insights into modern web technologies and collaborative development. Cards Against Lucas remains publicly accessible and showcases how web technologies can create fun and interactive experiences for players.
